About Wild Kat Rides

A person wearing a helmet smiling while standing outdoors at the base of a grassy hill with flowering plants, overlooking a large body of water with mountain peaks in the background on a sunny day.

Welcome! I am Kat Power, the owner and instructor at Wild Kat Rides. I created Wild Kat Rides to provide an empowering space for all to feel confident on mountain bikes. The “wild” in Wild Kat Rides acknowledges our wildness as humans to get out there on our bikes, push our limits, and feel alive.

As an educator, trail builder, and outdoor adventurer, I am passionate about teaching mountain bike skills, creatively pushing boundaries, and having fun along the way. I’m excited to share my passion through skill-focused clinics, progression sessions, and private lessons so you can feel confident wherever your adventures take you.

I am a certified Level 1 Instructor and Intro to Air Coach with the Global Syndicate of Mountain Bike Coaches and have over 10 years of experience coaching privately and with other certified organizations, including the Trek Dirt Series.

Mountain Bike Skills Programs

A group of cyclists, mostly women, gathered around a person standing on a dirt mound with one foot elevated, outdoors in a park or trail area during autumn. The person is wearing a blue helmet, plaid shirt, and shorts, and appears to be demonstrating or explaining something. The others are listening attentively, many wearing helmets and athletic clothing, in front of trees with fall foliage and a clear blue sky.

KAT!!! In short, she’s a true master of her craft and an incredible teacher.

I took a 3-day mountain biking clinic with Kat as a near novice. Rather than rushing us onto challenging terrain, she started with the fundamentals…giving demos on proper body position, braking, cornering etc. We then had plenty of drill time to actually build muscle memory before moving on.

By the end of the three days, I felt genuinely confident tackling routes I would have been intimidated by on day one. She has a real gift for meeting riders where they are and building them up methodically, without ever making you feel rushed or behind.

Kat clearly has an understanding of the sport from every angle (technique, physics, psychology) and her love for it made me stoked to get better.

I was so very impressed with the whole experience and I'll absolutely be coming back to Kat for lessons at the next skill level.

As a bonus, she’s great at bird identification!
